Backpacking and touring around nearly every continent, the Pivian Tour founder has the same passion for travel that brought you to this website.
Birth of an Idea
Generally preferring to design his own itineraries, he was often dismayed at not being able to find information on the terrific local tour operators that he found when he arrived at his destinations. And, by the time he got there, it was too late to book a tour, or not enough time to enjoy one. Little by little an idea began to swirl in from the mental mist! And in 2009, Pivian Tours was created.
Right Place, Right Time, Right Price
Living, working and studying in various countries, including twelve months in South American, helped the Pivian Tours founder understand just what was missing: an online marketplace that lets local tour operators worldwide advertise their tours at a guaranteed, book-ahead-of-time price. The website needed to let the prospective traveler view dozens of tours to find the exactly right tour, at exactly the right time and place, at exactly the right price. Guaranteed.
Making a Great Match
Many small tour companies don’t have the means to showcase their services on a website. But they have fantastic things to offer! The Pivian Tours founder knew he could put the amazing diversity of choices online by bringing the tour operators directly together with travelers.
Sometimes You Just Can't Go It Alone
Preferring to travel independently, the founder also became aware that many places in the world require a local guide or tour operator in order to visit particular unique places. Walking along the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is an excellent example of this. Touring alone sometimes just isn’t possible.
Money Matters
Economics also spurred the creation of Pivian Tours. Often it is just plain cheaper to go in an organized group, even if traveling in a herd isn’t the founder’s usual preference. This is often the case in extreme sports activities. It is difficult, complicated and sometimes impossible for an individual traveler to take care of all the details alone in a way that is cheap and practical.

The ability to easily comparing prices was also important to the founder. One specific website to see exactly what local tours were available worldwide! And with enough detail to decide which one had enough of a match for the traveler to make it feel like a fully custom trip, but without the expense of one.
